Two-WheelersItaljet is coming to India. The Bologna brand, best known for the Dragster with its exposed frame and Independent Steering System, has tied up with Motohaus India, the retail arm of Kolhapur's KAW Veloce Motors. The news broke on 16 October 2026, and Indian reports were updated through 19 October. What Italjet and Motohaus have not said is the important part: which models, at what price, and when. Both companies say the India launch strategy, product portfolio and rollout timelines will be announced at EICMA 2026 in Milan.
That show runs at Rho Fiera Milano with press and trade days on 3 and 4 November and public days from 5 to 8 November. So the India plan is roughly a week away from being spelled out.
Italjet builds two-wheelers from 125cc to 700cc, and the Dragster line is the volume product. Indian coverage of the tie-up expects the smaller Dragsters, the 125 and the 300, to lead the India range, though neither company has confirmed a single model. The flagship Dragster 700 uses a 698cc liquid-cooled twin making 69hp, which is not a realistic India starting point.
Why Motohaus matters here
Motohaus is not a new name on this beat. The same Kolhapur operation already retails Brixton Motorcycles, the Austrian KSR Group brand, and VLF, the Italian label founded by designer Alessandro Tartarini. The Brixton range sits between ₹4.00 lakh for the Crossfire 500 XC and ₹9.74 lakh for the Cromwell 1200 X, ex-showroom, on Autocar India's October 2026 list.
On the scooter side, the VLF Tennis went on sale in India on 18 November at ₹1.30 lakh ex-showroom, with a 1.5kW hub motor, a 2.5kWh battery, a claimed 130km range and a 65kmph top speed. Motohaus said it took over 300 bookings within a month of launch, and that the scooter is assembled at the Kolhapur plant. Local assembly is the detail Indian buyers should watch, because it is the difference between a CBU price and something a premium 125cc scooter buyer will actually consider.
There is a Bengaluru angle too. Motohaus opened a showroom at Bommasandra on 31 August 2026, part of a network push that also added Pune and Guwahati this year. If Italjet lands, that is where south India will first sit on one.
Who is coming, who is stalling
The Italjet news lands while a bigger name sits still. CFMoto's India relaunch was put on hold earlier this year, with the company telling Autocar India that "launching solely with the 450MT would not sufficiently support our re-entry plans". The distributor pointed to the higher GST rate on bikes above 350cc and to E20 fuel compatibility work as reasons for the delay.
The contrast is instructive. CFMoto needs volume at the ₹4 lakh mark to justify a second attempt, and policy moved under it. Italjet is the opposite case, a small-volume design-led brand that can arrive with one or two expensive scooters and still make its numbers work, provided the distributor already has showrooms, a plant and a service network. Motohaus has all three.
For an Indian buyer, nothing is purchasable yet. Keep expectations honest until Milan: a Dragster 125 or 300 would be a premium, low-volume scooter sold alongside Vespa and Aprilia, not an Activa alternative. We will report the actual India range, pricing approach and timeline as soon as Italjet states them at EICMA.
