Classic Legends sets up an authorised spare parts distribution network for Jawa, Yezdi and BSA, announced 26 October

The Mahindra-backed maker of three revived heritage names will now sell genuine parts through regional distributors instead of only through its 410 dealership touchpoints, which answers the oldest complaint against it.

Classic Legends, the Mahindra-backed company that revived Jawa, Yezdi and BSA, said on 26 October 2026 that it has set up an authorised spare parts distribution network across India. The idea is simple. Until now, if a Jawa 42 needed a clutch cable or a mirror, the part came through a company dealership. From now on, appointed regional distribution partners will stock genuine parts, and independent workshops, service partners and owners can buy directly from them.

The company says the network reaches urban, semi-urban and rural markets, and that the aim is shorter procurement cycles and faster service turnaround as the portfolio and the rider base grow. Anupam Thareja, co-founder of Classic Legends, said easy access to genuine spare parts is an important aspect of the ownership experience, and that expanding the authorised distribution network is an important step towards making those parts more accessible across India.

Why this matters more than another new colour

Classic Legends has carried the same owner complaint since the Jawa 42 arrived in 2018. The bikes look right, but parts and service can be slow, especially away from the big cities. A dealership-only parts chain is exactly why a small job can sit for days. Letting independent garages buy genuine parts is the first structural fix the company has offered, rather than a service camp or a goodwill gesture.

The timing follows a strong run. Classic Legends sold 22,279 motorcycles between April and August 2026, against 11,887 units in the same five months of 2025. Thareja has said demand has finally caught up with production, and that the company should have expanded sooner. Distribution is being added carefully rather than in a rush: the brands have 410 dealership touchpoints and the company reckons it now covers roughly 86 per cent of the markets where its customers live. The price band has also been widened, from ₹1.85 lakh to ₹2.05 lakh earlier, to ₹1.70 lakh to ₹3.20 lakh now.

The heritage pitch, nine days earlier

On the same stretch of October, Jawa Yezdi marked Czech Day 2026 at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi. The brand used it to retell its own story: founded in Prague in 1929 with the JAWA 500 OHV, followed in 1932 by the lighter JAWA 175, then the Pérák developed during the Second World War, then the arrival in India in 1960 through Ideal Jawa in Mysore, and the return in 2018.

Today the Jawa All Stars range is the Jawa 42, the Jawa 42 FJ and the Jawa 42 Bobber. The base Jawa 42 is listed at ₹1,86,948 ex-showroom with 26.94 bhp and a 184 kg kerb weight.

What to watch next

Two things are still missing from the announcement. Classic Legends has not said how many distributors it has appointed, which states they sit in, or when the rollout is complete. It has also not published a price list or a parts catalogue for the distributor channel, which is what will decide whether an independent mechanic in a tier two town actually stocks a Yezdi Roadster brake pad instead of a generic one.

For a buyer, the practical test is unchanged. Walk into the nearest workshop, not the showroom, and ask whether it can get you a genuine part this week. If the answer starts changing over the next 2 to 3 months, this will have been the most useful thing Classic Legends did all year. Heritage branding keeps old names alive on a tank badge. Parts supply is what keeps the motorcycles themselves running, which is the whole point of a classic.

Don't own any of these but this is a good move honestly. My riding buddy's Jawa 42 waited almost two weeks for a clutch cable last year cause the dealer didn't stock it. Wonder if EV makers will ever do something similar for spares, or are we stuck depending only on service centres forever.

Good step, genuinely. RE parts are easy to find even in small towns now so this was overdue for Jawa owners. Question is whether "independent workshops can buy directly" means actual walk in counters or still some dealer approval loop. That detail decides if waiting time really drops.

Good on paper but the real number that matters is distributor count vs 410 dealerships, that ratio tells you if small towns actually get covered. RE's spares network took years to mature even with way bigger volumes, so curious how fast Jawa can get there.
