Fourth variant fills the gap

BMW Motorrad has added a Sport variant to the F 450 GS range in India, completing a four variant line up for the small adventure motorcycle. Autocar India reported on November 6 that the Sport joins the Base, Exclusive and GS Trophy trims, and is priced at Rs 5.90 lakh ex-showroom. It sits between the Exclusive and the Trophy, the same slot the Sport occupies in BMW's international line up but had skipped in India until now.

The Sport gets a Racing Red paint scheme, a Sport suspension package, Gearshift Assistant Pro for clutchless shifting, and Riding Modes Pro. Standard kit also includes a clear Rallye windscreen, black hand protectors, off road footrests and a plastic engine guard, according to Autocar India and evo India.

Every variant costs more than at launch

The bigger change in this update is the price of the three variants that were already on sale. Autocar India's report states that when the F 450 GS launched in April 2026, the Base variant was priced at Rs 4.70 lakh, the Exclusive at Rs 4.90 lakh and the GS Trophy at Rs 5.30 lakh, all ex-showroom. Those same variants now cost Rs 5.35 lakh, Rs 5.55 lakh and Rs 6.15 lakh respectively.

BMW has not issued a public explanation for the increase through its press office pages checked for this story. The F 450 GS uses a newly developed 420cc two cylinder inline engine that BMW's own launch release said makes 48 hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm of torque at 6,750rpm, paired with a six speed gearbox. The motorcycle was developed in Germany and is locally produced in India, BMW said when it first launched the bike in Goa in April.

What it means for a buyer

For anyone who booked or priced out the F 450 GS earlier this year, the range now costs noticeably more at every trim, and the Sport trim gives buyers who want off road hardware and the Gearshift Assistant Pro a cheaper way in than stepping up to the Rs 6.15 lakh Trophy. At this price band in India, the F 450 GS is cross shopped against mid weight adventure bikes such as the KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 on the single cylinder side, and against the Honda NX500 among twin cylinder rivals, as noted in coverage of the bike's original India launch.

Buyers should check with their BMW Motorrad dealer on current on road costs, since registration and insurance will add to these ex-showroom figures, and ask whether units already in dealer stock carry the April pricing or the revised one.
