Maruti YMC electric MPV spied again, front and cabin seen for the first time
Indian outlets published fresh sightings of Maruti's seven-seat EV between October 24 and October 26, 2026, and this round of photographs finally shows the nose and the dashboard.

Kia Carens ClavisMaruti Suzuki's second electric car for India has been spied again, and this batch of photographs is the most useful yet. Rushlane published images of the three-row test mule on October 24, 2026, credited to Ishan Pahwa, covering the front, the side and a first look at the dashboard. CarWale followed on October 25 with its own set. Autocar India added more design detail on October 26. The vehicle carries the internal codename YMC. Maruti has confirmed none of this, so treat every line below as spied or expected, not official.
What the spy shots actually show
The mule is still heavily wrapped, but the shape is clear. It is an upright, boxy people mover with a short bonnet, a broad nose, a large windscreen and a long roofline. Autocar India describes wraparound LED headlamps with slatted daytime running lamps, close in treatment to the Victoris, beside a blanked-off fascia with a slim air intake above the bumper. Rushlane counted three stacked illuminated elements on each side of the nose. At the rear, both outlets report a full-width light bar, a squared-off tailgate, a shark-fin antenna and a high-mounted stop lamp.
CarWale notes active air vents at the front, the same battery cooling trick the e Vitara uses. The cabin frame is the real gain. The dashboard appears to carry the e Vitara's connected twin-screen layout, which suggests Maruti is reusing architecture rather than drawing a new one. There is no exhaust can on the mule and the high-voltage cabling runs under the floor.
Platform, power and a timeline nobody agrees on
All three outlets place the YMC on the same Heartect-e underpinnings as the e Vitara, retailed through Nexa. Autocar India expects the e Vitara hardware to carry over, a 49kWh pack with 144hp and a 61kWh pack with 174hp, both with 189Nm from a front motor. It also makes the obvious point that a heavier, boxier MPV body will not match the e Vitara's claimed 440km to 543km. CarWale goes the other way and suggests the extra floor area could allow a pack larger than 61kWh.
The launch date is where the reports diverge, and that is worth saying plainly. Autocar India writes that Maruti may debut the YMC by the end of 2026 and launch it in 2027. CarWale says it has confirmed a 2027 debut, possibly in the first half of the year. Rushlane sticks to a 2027 launch. Nobody has an official date, and Maruti's February 2026 e Vitara press release made no mention of a follow-up EV.
What it means for Indian buyers
The context here is price. Maruti launched the e Vitara on February 17, 2026 at an introductory Rs 10.99 lakh ex-showroom under its battery rental scheme, with a separate battery charge of Rs 3.99 per km, plus an 8-year or 160,000km battery warranty, Level 2 ADAS and a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. If Maruti applies the same battery-as-a-service pricing to a seven-seater, the sticker could look unusually low for a three-row EV. CarWale currently estimates Rs 14 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, which is an estimate and not a quote from Maruti.
The target is clear enough. Autocar India points at the Kia Carens Clavis EV, the only electric MPV under Rs 20 lakh right now, with the Mahindra XEV range sitting above it. For families who want three rows and a plug without stepping to Rs 25 lakh, there is almost no choice today. We will hold off on specification tables until Maruti shows the car itself.
