JSW Combat SUV interior spied by Autocar India, Rushlane before Dec 4

What the spy shots show

Autocar India reported on November 2 that a camouflaged JSW Combat test mule has been caught with its doors open, giving the clearest look yet at the cabin. The shots, credited to the X handle SuryawanshiPrit and verified independently by the title, show a dual tone blue and white interior with a 15.6 inch touchscreen, a 10.25 inch digital driver's display, a flat topped four spoke steering wheel and a rotary gear selector. Autocar India lists expected kit as a six way powered driver's seat, a four way powered co driver's seat, a 12 speaker Sony audio system, a 540 degree camera system and Level 2 driver assist.

Rushlane had run its own set of exterior and interior spy shots on October 31, crediting the same photographer, and described a boxy silhouette with 20 inch alloys, roof rails with neon green inserts, vertical LED tail lights and a small box on the tailgate that the outlet says is for charging cable storage. Both outlets agree the cabin design is lifted closely from the Chery Jetour T2, the SUV the Combat is based on.

A new brand, not a new MG

The Combat matters because it is the first model from JSW Motors, which Autocar India's October 9 report describes as a standalone brand, separate from JSW MG Motor India, the existing joint venture between the JSW Group and China's SAIC Motor that sells the MG badged cars. JSW Group took a majority stake in the former MG Motor India in 2023 and renamed it JSW MG Motor India. The new JSW Motors brand is a second, parallel operation building its own range of hybrids and EVs off Chery platforms, with assembly planned at JSW's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra.

Spy reports describe a plug in hybrid setup with a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine, two electric motors driving the front wheels, an 18.4 kWh battery and a three speed dedicated hybrid transmission. Autocar India's November 2 report puts combined output at 360 bhp and 610 Nm, with a claimed electric only range of 90 km on the NEDC cycle and a combined range of about 1,100 km. None of this is confirmed by JSW yet. It is what test mules and spy photographs point to, and that is how it should be read until the company's own reveal.

What it means for Indian buyers

JSW Motors has set December 4, 2026 for the Combat's debut, according to Autocar India's reporting, which also carries an expected price band of ₹40 lakh to ₹50 lakh ex showroom. At that price the Combat would sit against five seat SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, the Honda ZR V and JSW MG's own Majestor, a crowded shelf for a brand nobody outside the industry had heard of a year ago.
