What a custom motorcycle build costs in India, builder by builder

Rajputana, Eimor Customs and Bombay Custom Works quote anywhere from ₹80,000 to ₹10 lakh for a bike, and Royal Enfield's own warranty dies the moment a part gets changed.

A custom motorcycle build in India can cost as little as ₹80,000 for a simple restoration or run past ₹10 lakh for a full bespoke job, and the number depends almost entirely on which builder you pick and how much of the donor bike gets reworked. Three of the country's best known custom houses, Rajputana Custom Motorcycles in Jaipur, Eimor Customs in Hyderabad and Bombay Custom Works in Mumbai, all publish or have confirmed rough price bands, and they differ enough that it pays to know them before you hand over a motorcycle.

What three known builders charge

Rajputana's customisation fee starts from ₹95,000 and can go up to ₹8 lakh or more depending on complexity, according to a breakdown of its price list published by Motorbeam. That fee excludes the donor motorcycle, which the customer has to supply separately, and the shop says a build takes two weeks to two months depending on scope.

Eimor Customs prices by job rather than by open ended quote. Its own price list, reproduced by MotoAuto, shows a Royal Enfield restoration at ₹80,000, a custom built cruiser at ₹1.5 lakh, and custom paint work starting from ₹20,000 on top of whatever build it is applied to. Helmet work and shipping are charged separately again.

Bombay Custom Works sits at the premium end. Founder Shail Sheth told ZigWheels that a bespoke project like his Harley Davidson X440 flat tracker build runs ₹8 to 10 lakh, though that particular transformation took just 20 days in the workshop.

What you give up when you commission a build

Royal Enfield's own Custom World page showcases all three of these builders alongside names like Bulleteer Customs and Autologue Design, and it carries a plain warning for anyone shopping there: the featured builders "are not certified by Royal Enfield", the page states, and the platform exists only to let them show their work. There is no official pricing, no quality guarantee and no dispute process attached. You deal with the builder directly, on the builder's terms.

The bigger cost is the warranty. Royal Enfield's own custom world page says plainly that "the warranty will stand void if any part or component is changed", though the motorcycle can still be serviced afterwards using genuine stock parts. Buying a known name does not import any factory backing. You are paying for craftsmanship and reputation, not a Royal Enfield product with Royal Enfield standing behind it.

What to check before you commit

Settle the donor bike question first. Rajputana's fee, like most builders' fees, excludes the base motorcycle, so budget for a used Classic 350 or similar on top of the quoted price, not instead of it.

Ask for a written scope and a realistic timeline before paying anything. The builds described here ranged from 20 days to six months, so agree in writing what happens if the project overruns, and what is refundable if it does not work out.

Treat a show credit as a signal, not a certificate. Royal Enfield's Motoverse has run its own Custom World judging for years, and SEMA in Las Vegas opened its Battle of the Builders contest to motorcycles for the first time this week, choosing a Top 10 from craftsmanship, design and execution, a sign of how seriously the global aftermarket now takes two wheel customisation. No Indian builder featured on that particular list, but the same judging logic, a body of finished, photographed work, is the best proxy an Indian buyer has for quality before committing a bike and a lakh or more to a workshop.

Finally, check registration with your local RTO before you start. A heavily modified motorcycle can need fresh approval, and that conversation is easier before the cutting begins than after.
