Do you need a Royal Enfield to join BOBMC's Rider Mania?

The short answer

No single rule covers every rider. BOBMC, the Brotherhood of Bulleteers Motorcycling Consortium, is a federation of more than 200 independent Royal Enfield riding clubs across India, Nepal and Bhutan, according to its own website. The name itself, "Bulleteers," points to its Royal Enfield roots, and Wikipedia still describes Rider Mania as "the annual gathering of Indian Royal Enfield motorcycle owners."

But BOBMC does not run membership itself. Its member clubs do, and they do not all apply the same rule. India Bull Riders, one of the oldest and largest BOBMC clubs, started life in 2007 as Delhi Bull Riders, a group strictly for Royal Enfield owners. It renamed itself India Bull Riders in 2010, and as of March 2021 it opened its doors to "motorcycles beyond Royal Enfield," according to the club's own about page. So if you ride with a club like that one, you do not need a Royal Enfield. If you ride with a club that never relaxed the rule, you do.

What Rider Mania actually is

Rider Mania is not a Royal Enfield company event. It began in Goa in 2003, organised by Vernon Dias, and has been hosted since by a different BOBMC member club each year, per Wikipedia and BOBMC's own site. The 2025 edition, the 22nd, ran from 31 January to 2 February in Dhordo on the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, the first time the event went to that state, according to a report in Deshgujarat. Organisers put the crowd at over 2,000 riders from states across India plus Nepal and Bhutan, and more than 200 of them rode the "Road Through Heaven" from Dhordo to Dholavira on the final day.

The 23rd edition moved to the hills, running 6 to 8 February 2026 in Ganga Bhogpur, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, hosted by the Free Souls Riders Motorcycle Club and powered by the Northern Squadron, BOBMC's own site says. It aimed to bring together more than 1,500 riders from India, Nepal and Bhutan.

What it costs to buy in anyway

If your plan is to actually own a Royal Enfield rather than borrow a seat in someone else's club, the entry cost varies a lot by model, and the model you pick changes what kind of rider you look like at a gathering like this.

The Hunter 350 is the cheapest way into the brand, a street naked styled for city use, priced from ₹1,49,900 ex-showroom, according to 350cc.com's 2026 price list. The Classic 350, the bike most associated with Bullet club culture and its retro silhouette, starts at ₹1,93,080. The Himalayan 450, built for exactly the kind of multi-day, high-altitude ride that Rider Mania 2026 took to Garhwal, starts at ₹2,85,000, nearly double the Hunter.

The trade-off for a buyer

If your only goal is the community and the campfire, you do not strictly need a Royal Enfield, provided you find a BOBMC club that has opened its membership the way India Bull Riders did. If you want to fit the federation's own founding identity, or you plan to ride the host club's qualifying routes and competitions, buying into the brand still matters, and the Himalayan 450 suits the terrain BOBMC has chosen in its last two editions better than the cheaper Hunter 350 does.
