Toyota reveals five tracked Snowhunter concepts for SEMA 2026 on 27 October, Land Cruiser and Tacoma included

Toyota FortunerToyota announced its 2026 SEMA Show line-up on 27 October, and it is the most single minded theme any carmaker has taken to Las Vegas this year. Five body-on-frame vehicles, the Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner, Land Cruiser and Sequoia, have had their wheels and tyres removed and replaced with white powder coated snow tracks. Toyota calls the family Snowhunter. The builds go on public display when the SEMA Show opens at the Las Vegas Convention Center from 3 to 6 November.
CALTY Design Research in Ann Arbor, Michigan led the design work, and the five share a visual script: Snowhunter camouflage graphics and badging, gloss black trim, Rigid auxiliary lighting and suspension lift parts from Toyota Genuine Parts and TRD, the lift being there mainly to clear the track hardware.
What each of the five got
The Tundra is the mobile base camp of the group. It carries TRD billet rear control arms, Predator Step running boards and a CALTY designed TrailLift Pro Rack System in the bed, with an articulating upper section so bikes, kayaks and canoes can be loaded without a second pair of hands.
The Tacoma is the tight trail one, with a roof rack, a full length bed rack with MOLLE panels, an awning, bed lighting and recovery boards. The 4Runner adds underbody skid plates, Toyota rock rails, a Prinsu roof rack and a Thule Pulse 2 cargo box. The Land Cruiser swaps the cargo box arrangement for a Thule SnowPack ski rack and gains rock sliders and skid plates. The Sequoia takes the TRD front skid plate and cast aluminium running boards, and keeps the Thule box so the third row stays usable.
None of this is going on sale. CarBuzz reports that the tracks are third party units rather than TRD or Toyota parts, that a track conversion can start at 10,000 dollars for just a pair, and that a Toyota spokesperson confirmed none of the company's SEMA concepts carry new consumer parts. Autoblog reports flatly that the five are not street legal and will not be sold at dealerships. The one piece that looks like it has a future is the TrailLift Pro Rack System, which Toyota is calling a concept part.
What an Indian owner can take from it
The track conversion itself is a dead end here, and not only because of snow. Section 52 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 says no owner shall so alter a vehicle that the particulars in the certificate of registration are no longer accurate, except in the ways the section allows with the registering authority's approval. Tyre size and wheel changes beyond what the manufacturer specifies for that model sit squarely inside that problem, and a tracked vehicle is not a vehicle your RC describes at all.
The rest of the Snowhunter recipe is the interesting part for a Fortuner, Hilux or Land Cruiser 300 owner. Roof platforms, cargo boxes, ski and bike mounts, MOLLE panels on a bed rack, recovery boards within reach and a proper underbody plate are bolt-on, reversible and do not touch the structure. That is the honest lesson of a show stand like this one. The halo build is a track conversion nobody can register, and the parts bin behind it is full of things that travel well.
Osaka Auto Messe and Tokyo Auto Salon 2027 follow in the new year, with Tokyo Auto Salon confirmed for 15 to 17 January 2027 at Makuhari Messe, where the Japanese accessory brands will answer with their own versions of the same idea.
