Mahindra BE 6Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, the arm that sells Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev, says its TATA.ev MegaCharger network has passed 1,000 live fast charging connectors. The milestone was reported on 22 October 2026. The company spread covers 200 cities and 180 highway corridors, with 40 MW of installed charging capacity and about 32 million electric kilometres powered so far.
The north to south reach runs 2,570 km from Amritsar to Thoothukudi, with the southernmost site about 85 km from Kanyakumari. East to west, the network stretches 1,800 km from Dwarka in Gujarat to Murakati in Jharkhand on the Kolkata to Jamshedpur corridor.

What it means for Karnataka buyers
Karnataka is the second densest state on the map with 44 locations, behind Maharashtra on 52 and ahead of Tamil Nadu on 32. For a Bengaluru owner, that matters more than the national headline. The Bengaluru to Mysuru, Bengaluru to Mangaluru and Bengaluru to Chennai runs are exactly the trips where a 60 kWh Harrier.ev or Curvv.ev needs one reliable stop, and where a missing or occupied charger turns a four hour drive into a six hour one.

Tata's own MegaCharger page advertises 120 kW ultra fast units, up to 25 per cent off tariffs for TATA.ev customers, 24x7 remote support and emergency charging assistance in five cities. Chargers are bookable through six partner apps, Tata Power, Zeon, Statiq, ChargeZone, Voltran and Shell, plus Tata's own iRA.ev app.
Read the number carefully
Two cautions before you treat 1,000 as 1,000 chargers. First, Tata counts connectors, not charging units. A dual-gun 120 kW charger is two connectors at one site, so the number of physical machines is lower than the headline suggests. Second, the arithmetic on capacity is worth doing: 40 MW divided across 1,000 connectors averages 40 kW per connector, well short of the 120 kW that the brochure leads with. That is consistent with a mix of highway MegaChargers and slower city units rather than a network of uniformly fast guns.
Set against Tata's own plan, progress is real but partial. In its February 2025 announcement, TATA.ev said phase one of the MegaCharger rollout would be 500 Mega Chargers over two years, inside a broader goal of 400,000 charge points of all kinds by 2027, counting home, community and dealership units alongside public ones. The 1,000 connector figure fits that phase one shape. The 400,000 number remains a long way off and depends mostly on home chargers, not highway hardware.
Where rivals stand
The comparison is useful. Mahindra's Charge_iN network reached 50 charging stations on 5 October 2026, using 180 kW dual-gun units reserved for the XEV 9e, BE 6 and XEV 9S, with HPCL retail outlets as the anchor. Fewer sites, higher power, tighter access. JSW MG Motor took the opposite route with e-Hub, which it said in March 2026 aggregated more than 22,500 charging points from 40 operators, with 1.5 GWh dispensed.
So three strategies, one market. Tata is building owned capacity through partners, Mahindra is buying speed at a handful of points, MG is reselling other people's chargers through software. For buyers, the test is not the press release count but whether the charger on your route is working when you arrive. None of the three publishes verified uptime data.
