Is MINI's Mod My MINI customisation programme worth it in India?
MINI India now lets Cooper and Countryman owners order factory paint, decals and accessories with a 24 month warranty, so here is what Mod My MINI actually covers, what it costs to find out, and when a local customiser still makes more sense.

Mini CooperWhat Mod My MINI actually covers
MINI India launched Mod My MINI on 26 August 2026 in Gurugram, and it answers a question every Cooper or Countryman owner eventually asks: can I change the way my MINI looks without going to a local customiser and risking the warranty.
The programme covers the Cooper (3 door) and Countryman families, for both new buyers ordering a car and people who already own one. It bundles three things: signature paints in over 100 classic MINI shades, a set of exclusive thematic decals, and original MINI accessories covering the roof, mirror caps, spoilers and brake calipers. Mix all of that together and MINI says you get 2.5 million possible combinations, a number that is really a marketing calculation of how many shade, decal and accessory choices multiply out, not a catalogue of 2.5 million actual kits sitting in a warehouse.
The one concrete guarantee in the programme is on decals. Any decal fitted through Mod My MINI carries a 24 month warranty from the date of installation, backed by MINI itself. BMW Group India's Hardeep Singh Brar framed it as "the freedom to choose" with "factory backed customisation," which is the real pitch here: you are not voiding anything, because MINI is the one doing the modifying.
Where you can actually get it done, and what it costs
This is where an Indian buyer needs to be realistic. Mod My MINI runs through 17 sales touchpoints across 16 cities, with BMW Group India's wider service network of 51 touchpoints across 36 cities available for aftercare. That means if you live in a smaller town, your nearest Mod My MINI counter could be a drive away, the same problem MINI buyers already face for routine service.
Neither MINI nor BMW Group India has published a price list for the programme. What a respray, a decal set or a set of coloured brake calipers costs will depend on your dealer and your exact selection, and you only find out by asking. That is worth knowing before you fall in love with a shade: get the dealer's written quote for the specific combination you want, because "2.5 million combinations" tells you nothing about what any one of them costs you.
Mod My MINI versus the aftermarket shop
For an Indian enthusiast, the real choice is between this and a vinyl wrap or decal shop in their own city, which exists in practically every metro and does similar work for a fraction of the likely factory price. The aftermarket route wins on cost and on speed, since you are not booking a dealer slot.
Mod My MINI's case rests entirely on the 24 month decal warranty and on MINI standing behind the work on your car's paint and trim. A local wrap shop gives you no such backing: if a decal lifts or a respray goes patchy in year two, that is your problem to fix, not a dealer's. For a car already carrying MINI's own warranty, that factory backed guarantee is the whole point of paying more.
The honest trade off is this: if you are in one of the 16 cities with a touchpoint and want a look you can resell with confidence, Mod My MINI is the safer bet. If you live outside that footprint, or want a design MINI simply does not offer among its 100-plus shades and decal themes, the aftermarket remains your only real option, warranty risk included.
