How to add wireless CarPlay to an older car in India
If your car already has wired CarPlay, a genuine adapter can cost as little as ₹4,499, and if it has none at all, Pioneer's wireless head units in India start at ₹34,890 MRP.

Hyundai AlcazarThe short answer depends on one thing: whether your car already has wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If it does, you do not need a new screen, you need a small adapter that sits in the USB port and does the handshake wirelessly. Hyundai sells its own, at ₹4,499, for cars fitted with the 10.25-inch touchscreen. If your car has no CarPlay at all, the only real route is a new head unit, and in India the wireless-capable Pioneer units carry MRPs of ₹34,890 and ₹35,990.

Step one: find out what screen you have
Hyundai is the clearest example of how this works. Its smaller 8-inch infotainment systems already do wireless smartphone connection as standard, while the larger 10.25-inch units are wired, so the wired-to-wireless adapter was made for those. CarWale reported the ₹4,499 adapter being extended to the Grand i10 Nios, Exter, Verna, Aura, Venue and Venue N Line, after it first appeared on the Alcazar.
So before you buy anything, plug a cable in and see what happens. A car with working wired CarPlay is a 10 minute job. A car with only Bluetooth audio and a small monochrome display is a half-day job with a new unit, a fascia and a harness.
Step two: if you need a head unit, read the spec sheet properly
Pioneer India lists ten car stereos, and only two of them, the DMH-AP6650BT at ₹34,890 and the DMH-AP6850BT at ₹35,990, are the wireless CarPlay and Android Auto units. The cheaper ones, from ₹7,390 upwards, are single-DIN or wired-only media receivers. Kenwood also lists multimedia receivers for India, including models like the DMX9720XS and DMX7525S with wireless CarPlay, though prices are not published on its India site.
The DMH-AP6850BT is a useful benchmark for what to look for. It is a 9-inch, 1,024 x 600 capacitive screen, rated 50W x 4, with three 4V RCA pre-outs if you plan an amplifier later, a 13-band graphic equaliser with time alignment, a rear camera input with AHD720P and parking guidelines, a second camera input, steering wheel control support, and vehicle information accessible over CANBUS.
That last point is the one owners get wrong. Factory functions carry over only through a compatible CAN bus interface, so a car whose screen also runs a 360-degree camera, drive modes or service menus is the difficult case. Ask the installer to show you the same unit working in a car like yours before you pay.
Step three: protect the car while you do it
Buy the car-specific fascia and plug-in wiring harness along with the unit. No factory wiring should be cut, and the original head unit and its harness should go back in a box so the car can be returned to stock when you sell it. Get the parts fitted and listed on the invoice, because the warranty argument you may one day have with a dealer will be about whether the aftermarket fitment caused the fault, and an invoice showing adapters rather than spliced wires is your evidence. A genuine dealer-fitted adapter, like Hyundai's, avoids that conversation entirely.
One thing not to wait for: Pioneer's new SPHERA receiver, announced on 6 January 2026 as the first aftermarket in-dash unit with Dolby Atmos playback over Apple CarPlay, launches in North America in spring 2026. Pioneer says launching in other areas is under consideration, with no details. Buy what is on sale in India today.
