Deus Ex Machina customises Royal Enfield's Shotgun 650 at EICMA
Royal Enfield worked with Australian custom house Deus Ex Machina on a one off Shotgun 650 built by Jeremy Tagand, and will sell 100 production versions worldwide in 2027, with price and India availability not yet announced.

Royal Enfield Shotgun 650What Deus Ex Machina actually built
Royal Enfield showed a new custom collaboration at EICMA 2026 in Milan on November 3, called the Shotgun 650 'Son of a Gun'. It is a joint project with Deus Ex Machina, the Australian custom house that runs workshops in Sydney, Bali, California and Japan and is one of the most followed builders in this space.
The project started as a genuine one off. Deus's head builder Jeremy Tagand built it at the brand's Camperdown workshop in Sydney, which Deus calls the House of Simple Pleasures. The fuel cap on that original bike carries the words "Custom by Jeremy Tagand" alongside the Deus Ex Machina name, and the tank panel is marked "1 of 1", according to Return of the Cafe Racers' report from the show. Deus Ex Machina's own magazine page confirms the project and names Tagand as the builder.
From that one off, Royal Enfield and Deus developed a limited production version that keeps the deep red, cream and gold paint scheme, the flowing script graphics on the tank and the contrast cut alloy wheels, but sits closer to the standard Shotgun 650's silhouette than the full custom. Piano black engine covers, a brown leather seat with embroidered Deus branding and matching brown grips carry over from the original build. The engine itself is untouched, the same 648cc parallel twin that powers the regular Shotgun 650.
Only 100 bikes, no price yet
Royal Enfield has confirmed only 100 units of the Son of a Gun will be built for customers worldwide in 2027. Each one comes with an exclusive Royal Enfield x Deus souvenir jacket in stone washed sateen, lined to match the motorcycle's paintwork.
What nobody has confirmed yet is the price or how many of those 100 bikes, if any, will come to India. Royal Enfield has not announced booking details or a market wise split, so Indian riders who want one will have to wait for that news separately, likely closer to the 2027 build date.
Why this matters for Indian riders
The regular Shotgun 650 that this is based on costs ₹4,01,002 ex-showroom for the base Sheet Metal Grey version and ₹4,16,139 for the top Stencil White variant in India. It makes 47 PS and 52.3 Nm from the 648cc twin, claims 22 kmpl, and is already a familiar sight on Indian roads.
This is not the first time Royal Enfield has worked with an outside custom builder on a factory backed edition. It fits the pattern of its Factory Custom programme, where the company commissions known builders to rework one of its production bikes and then, sometimes, sells a small run of the result. For Indian buyers, the appeal and the catch are the same thing: a genuinely collectible, hand finished motorcycle, in a run small enough that most people who want one will not get one. Anyone keen should watch Royal Enfield's own channels rather than grey market sellers once the bike nears its 2027 build date, since unofficial importers quoting a price or a booking slot right now have nothing official to point to.
