Broad Arrow puts a 106-mile 1997 Ferrari F50 in its 31 October Las Vegas sale with a $20 million-plus estimate

The 334th of 349 cars built, chassis 107165 carries an estimate in excess of $20 million, well clear of the model's $14.575 million public record set in August.

Broad Arrow Auctions, the collector car auction house owned by Hagerty, said on 15 October that a 1997 Ferrari F50 showing 106 miles from new will headline its Las Vegas sale on 31 October at Wynn Las Vegas. The estimate is "in excess of $20,000,000". At the rupee's level of 95.22 to the dollar in early trade on 27 October, that is upwards of ₹190 crore for one car.

The car is chassis 107165, the 334th of the 349 F50s Ferrari built. It is finished in Rosso Corsa over a Nero leather interior, with the 4.7 litre, 513hp V12 derived from Ferrari's 1990 Formula 1 engine and a six-speed gated manual. The release lists the factory removable hardtop, a flight case, a Schedoni luggage set, a tool kit, covers and a pair of J.P. Tod's driving shoes with the car. Alexander Weaver, senior car specialist and vice president at Broad Arrow, called it "certainly the lowest mileage example of an end-of-an-era supercar". More than 75 cars are catalogued for the sale.

The estimate is well above the public record

The F50's public auction record stands at $14,575,000, set by a Giallo Modena 1996 car at Mecum's Monterey sale in August 2026. Two years earlier, in August 2024, the model record was $5.505 million at RM Sotheby's Monterey. In between came $5.532 million in February 2025, $9.245 million in August 2025 for the ex-Ralph Lauren car, $12.21 million at Mecum Kissimmee in January 2026 and $9.79 million in May 2026. That is a 165 percent rise in the top price over 24 months, and it is why a $20 million-plus ask is being taken seriously rather than laughed at.

It is also a reminder that the ceiling has moved much faster than the floor. The very best cars, with delivery mileage, original paint and the right colour, are being priced in their own bracket. An ordinary used F50, if such a thing exists, has not tripled.

The release cites Hagerty data to make the same point from the other end. Modern supercars have grown to 38 percent of auction sales, hypercars to 32 percent, and the Hagerty Ferrari Supercars Index, which includes the F50, has outperformed the S&P 500 by more than 300 points.

What an Indian collector can and cannot do here

Nothing about this car is importable into India. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade relaxed the vintage vehicle rule on 8 February 2025, replacing the old pre-1950 cut-off with a rolling 50 year test, so cars built up to 1975 became eligible in 2025 and 1976 cars in 2026. A 1997 Ferrari is 21 years short of that line, and used cars outside the vintage window remain blocked under the normal import policy.

Even for cars that do qualify, the concessions are narrow. Import is licence-free but only for actual users, resale of the imported vehicle is prohibited, and Autocar India puts customs duty, GST and registration together at roughly 250 percent of the invoice value. The vehicle must also comply with the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 to be used on the road.

So the practical reading for Indian buyers is the one that already applies to most of this market. Modern Ferrari halo cars bought at these sales stay abroad, in storage or in a collection outside the country, and the Indian interest in them is financial rather than something you will see at a Sunday drive. What is worth watching on 31 October is the number itself. If a 106 mile F50 clears $20 million, the gap between a time-capsule car and a used one widens again, and that gap is the single most useful thing for anyone valuing an older supercar anywhere, including here.
