AUMOVIO's new MK 120 MAB brake system brings yaw control to quads and three-wheeled scooters, announced 14 October
The Continental spin-off says its powersports brake unit, due on show at EICMA from 3 November, adds active yaw control and wheel lift mitigation to ATVs, UTVs and tilting scooters, while its Bengaluru plant keeps building the group's safety electronics.

Tech & EngineeringAUMOVIO, the automotive electronics business spun out of Continental, said on 14 October 2026 that it will show an expanded brake line-up for motorcycles and powersports vehicles at EICMA 2026 in Milan, in Hall 10 at Booth C64, from 3 to 8 November. The headline part is a new unit called the MK 120 MAB.
What the MK 120 MAB is for
The MK 120 name comes from AUMOVIO's current conventional car ESC generation. The MAB version has been adapted for vehicles that sit between a motorcycle and a car: three-wheeled scooters, side-by-side vehicles, utility terrain vehicles and ATVs or quads. According to the company's release, it brings active yaw control along with front and rear wheel lift mitigation to those segments, functions that were already established in passenger car and two-wheeler brake control.
That matters because these vehicles behave badly in two different ways. A tilting three-wheeled scooter has a wide front track and can trip over its own grip. A short wheelbase quad or UTV will lift a wheel under hard braking or in a tight turn, and once a wheel is off the ground a normal ABS channel has nothing useful to measure. Yaw control uses the vehicle's rotation rate to brake individual wheels and pull the vehicle back on line. Wheel lift mitigation bleeds pressure before the vehicle starts to pitch over. AUMOVIO describes the result as scalable safety and stability functions across a wide range of vehicle segments, which in plain terms means one hardware family covering everything from a 125cc commuter to a quad.

The rest of the EICMA stand
The same release lists the Motorcycle ABS 2.3 Base, introduced in 2025, a compact unit with an optional integrated inertial measurement unit, so a bike can get lean-sensitive braking without a separate sensor box. Below it sits MiniMAB EVO, a lightweight ABS for scooters, mopeds and commuter motorcycles, which AUMOVIO positions as the way makers meet rules requiring ABS on vehicles of 125cc and above. There are also radar sensors for adaptive cruise control, collision warning and blind-spot detection, instrument clusters from 4 inch to 8.8 inch, a Connected Infotainment Box, and automated manual transmission hardware with short shift times.
For context on scale, AUMOVIO says it passed 500 million electronic brake systems delivered worldwide in autumn 2025, a count that starts with the MK II of 1984.

Why this lands differently in India
India is the obvious volume market for the small end of this portfolio. Global NCAP notes that ABS became mandatory on two-wheelers above 125cc in April 2018, and that from January 2026 every new two-wheeler sold in India needs ABS regardless of engine size, covering petrol and electric models alike. It also records 1.80 lakh road deaths in India in 2024, with two-wheeler riders making up roughly 40 to 45 per cent of them. That is the demand curve behind a cheap, light ABS modulator.
The Bengaluru connection is real but sits on the electronics side rather than brakes. AUMOVIO India said in April 2026 that its Bengaluru plant had crossed 10 million airbag control units since production started there in 2016, and that it had added a tyre pressure monitoring system line and an Integrated Safety Control Module. Autocar Professional reported the same milestone, with the group's FY2025 revenue at €18.5 billion. Most ACU components are now sourced in India, and the plant exports to Japan and South Korea. Whether a powersports brake unit like the MK 120 MAB ever gets built here will depend on volumes, and in India those volumes live in quadricycles and three-wheelers rather than quads.
