India to London by road: what a guided expedition costs
A 2027 fixed departure from Gorakhpur to London is listed at ₹29,75,000 per person before tax, while a 10 day guided Manali to Leh bike package sells for ₹36,000, and the fine print is where the two really differ.

Adventure Cars & BikesThe short answer: a guided self-drive run from India to London on a fixed departure costs ₹29,75,000 per person, excluding 5 percent GST and 2 percent TCS. That is the price Adventures Overland lists for its 12 April to 19 June 2027 Road to London expedition, 68 nights and 69 days, Gorakhpur to London, across 20 countries including Nepal, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia and Turkiye. On the operator's own numbers that works out to roughly ₹43,000 a day per person.

What the price includes, and what it leaves open
The listing includes hotel stays on twin sharing, 68 breakfasts, 55 lunches and 23 dinners, all visas at normal visa fees, the Carnet de Passage for your vehicle and border crossing assistance. An EMI option is offered. The page's FAQ says you can bring your own vehicle or rent one from the company fleet, and it does not list fuel or vehicle preparation among the inclusions we could read.
One thing to settle in writing before paying. The India page describes the same 2027 departure as 68 nights and 69 days over about 16,000 km, while the company's US page for Road to London describes it as 64 nights and 65 days over 10,000 miles. Ask which itinerary document is contractual.
The clauses that decide your risk
The company's terms are blunt. If a reservation is cancelled by participants at any point in time, the operator "shall not be liable to refund any amounts to participants". For a self-owned vehicle, cost of repair and damages "shall be borne by the participant whether or not he was driving the vehicle at the time of damage". For a vehicle supplied by the company, the participant who was driving is solely liable for repair costs, including damage that does not appear to the naked eye. And except where fault or neglect is proved before a judicial forum, the operator's liability is limited to not more than US $5,000.
Read with the ticket price, that pushes the real decisions onto your own cover: trip cancellation insurance, vehicle insurance valid across the route, medical evacuation cover and a written damage deposit policy. On a 20 country drive, those documents matter more than the brochure photographs.
The cheaper rung on the same ladder
If you have never ridden or driven in a supported convoy, the entry price is far lower. A 10 day, 9 night Manali to Leh Ladakh bike trip listed on Thrillophilia is priced at ₹36,000 per adult, down from a listed ₹45,000. That includes a Royal Enfield 350 for solo riders, fuel for the whole journey, Delhi to Manali bus transfers, inner line permits and Ladakh union fees, a tour leader on a bike, daily mechanic support, a backup 4x4 for luggage and spares, plus an oxygen cylinder and first aid kit. Travel insurance, most lunches and flights are excluded.
That is the honest trade-off. Ten days in Ladakh tells you whether you can live with fixed daily distances, group pace and shared rooms, for about one per cent of the cost of the transcontinental trip.
Checks worth making before you transfer money
ATOAI says it has over 700 members across 28 states, and that its Active membership requires an applicant to be recognised by the central government as an Adventure Tour Operator with at least a year of operations. Ask for the recognition certificate and the membership category, not a logo on a website. ATOAI has also been running risk management work this year, including a national seminar in New Delhi on 18 May 2026, so ask what the operator's own risk plan says about evacuation and medical support. Then ask for references from riders on the last departure, not the testimonials on the sales page.
