How to enter Red Bull Erzbergrodeo from India: fees and dates

The short answer: there is no qualifying series and no invitation. You register online on the official Red Bull Erzbergrodeo site, pay in euros, then ride the Iron Road Prologue to earn one of the 500 main race places. The entry fee page for the 2026 edition listed the Iron Road Prologue at 365 euro and the prologue plus the main race at 475 euro.

The 31st edition runs from 27 to 30 May 2027. Speedweek reports that rider registration opens on Monday 16 November 2026 at 9 am CET, while the official rider page says registration is open from 17 November, so watch the site that whole week. Speedweek also says over 1,200 riders are expected, and places in the popular categories go quickly.

What you actually pay

The same official fee page lists the REMUS Rocket Ride at 85 euro on the Thursday and the XTreme Challenge at 10 euro on the Friday and Saturday. Those two are the cheap way to ride the mountain without committing to the full weekend.

Two money details matter. Withdrawal costs 100 euro if you tell the office by 17 April 2026, and after that date the entry fee is not refunded. If you enter all three days but do not qualify for the main race, 40 euro is refunded at the race office on the Sunday. Expect the 2027 numbers and deadlines to be published when registration opens, so read the page before you pay rather than trusting last year's figures.

The entry is the small line in an Indian rider's budget. Flights, a rented or freighted bike, a service van, fuel and a week of accommodation in Eisenerz all sit on top, and none of that is covered by the fee.

What the race is, in numbers

Erzbergrodeo is not a long trail ride. In 2026, 500 riders started the main race on the iron ore mine and only 15 reached the finish inside the four hour limit, with Manuel Lettenbichler winning in 3 hours 5 minutes 39 seconds for his fifth straight victory. If you have never ridden a full hard enduro day, the honest plan is the Prologue, the Rocket Ride or the XTreme Challenge first, then the main race in a later year.

The Romaniacs route, and the kit list

Red Bull Romaniacs in Romania is the other event Indian riders usually look at, and it is friendlier to a first timer because it is graded. The official 2027 page lists 11 classes: Gold, Silver, Bronze, Iron and Atom for hard enduro, four Adventure Rallye classes for bigger bikes, plus two eMoto classes. Entries opened at 12:00 on 1 October 2026 for the 27 to 31 July 2027 race, you can pay in full or put down 50 per cent and clear the balance before 15 June 2027, and withdrawal deductions step up from 260 euro to 460 euro to 805 euro as those dates pass.

Romaniacs includes the race card, the event permit issued by the Romanian federation, in the starting fee. What it does not provide is your licence or insurance: the regulations put the valid motorcycle driving licence and third party insurance for a road registered bike squarely on the rider. The bike must be street legal with working lights, under 115 dB/A, and motocross tyres are banned. You also carry a fixed kit in a backpack, including a GPS with spare batteries, a phone in waterproof packing, at least one litre of water, a foil blanket, a spare spark plug, tyre repair gear and 300 Lei in cash. Turn up without an item and it is a 30 minute penalty.

Both events list rental and race servicing partners, which is the sane option from India rather than shipping your own bike. Book the bike the same day your entry is confirmed.
