Someone asked me this on a weekend school run, so I'm throwing it open to the Circle.
I run the AX7 L diesel AT, and my bias is honest: the low end torque is what I notice most on a full car with luggage and a ghat section ahead. Autocar India's own comparison says much the same, that the diesel pulls easier in traffic and cruises relaxed on the highway, while the petrol AT is the quieter, smoother, cheaper to buy option with no DPF regeneration to think about. The part I'd change on mine is that cold start clatter in a quiet apartment basement at 6am. Petrol owners never have to apologise for that.
