Gurkha's deeper wading vs Thar Roxx's safety rating, what matters more in monsoon?

Been reading the Gurkha vs Thar Roxx comparison on Autocar India, and the Gurkha apparently wades deeper than the Roxx. My Thar still has the top safety rating going for it though, Gurkha isn't rated yet. For someone doing early morning runs through flooded underpasses in Mysuru monsoon, which would you trust more, the extra wading margin or the crash rating? Anyone here actually waded through deep water in either to say if that spec even holds up in real use, or is it all paper numbers till you're actually stuck axle deep somewhere near Bandipur?
