Been reading a Moto365 piece on why used car buyers are told to replace the timing belt early instead of waiting for it to snap: /p/used-car-buyers-replace-the-timing-belt-early-before-it-snaps. It got me digging through Team-BHP, where one preowned Swift VXi owner had theirs swapped out at 73,000 km, well before the usual lakh-km mark most manuals quote, purely because the service history on the car was patchy.

My ZXi+ runs the newer Z-series with a chain, so this one isn't on my own worry list, but plenty of you in the Squad are driving older or secondhand Swifts where it genuinely matters.

Has your dealer or local garage ever flagged a belt or chain change on a used Swift you picked up? What year and variant was it, how many kilometres had it clocked, and did they get to it before anything went wrong or only after?
