Aftermarket LED headlight bulbs on the Swift: where does the law actually draw the line?

Headlight talk today, Swift Squad. My ZXi Plus AMT still runs the stock projector setup, nothing fancy, but almost every second Swift I spot in Bengaluru traffic now has an aftermarket LED bulb swapped into that same housing for a whiter beam.

Worth knowing where the line sits before you join them. Factory LED housings are fine, but a bulb swap that isn't type approved runs into Section 52 of the Motor Vehicles Act, and traffic police can fine you for it, starting around five hundred rupees for a first offence. This piece lays out the rules clearly: https://www.groundreport.in/explained/vehicle-headlight-rules-india-led-legality-fines/

What bothers me more as a fellow driver isn't the fine though, it's the glare. A badly aimed retrofit blinds oncoming cars on single lane highways long before any constable notices.

Has anyone here actually been pulled up for this, or just glared at from the opposite lane?
