BS7 wants to measure brake dust and tyre wear: does that change what we buy?

Spent my chai break reading our newsroom piece on the BS7 draft, and the bit that stuck with me was not the tailpipe at all: what India's BS7 draft changes. Brake dust and tyre abrasion get their own limits.
Forbes India's report on the phased rollout says the brake particle limits land from April 2031, so nothing touches our cars tomorrow. Still, as someone who happily fusses over tyre pressure on the ZXi Plus, I find it interesting that the rubber itself may soon be judged on how fast it sheds.
My worry is cost. Low-abrasion compounds and cleaner pad material usually mean pricier consumables, and a 14-inch Swift tyre is one of the few genuinely cheap things left in ownership.
Do you see this making our pads and tyres better, or just dearer? Keen to hear from the folks who change tyres every two years.
