Top rack on the Interceptor: great for Tamhini runs, but mind the number plate

I fitted a top rack thought on the 650 and wanted to open this up properly, because half our Varandha and Tamhini crew keeps asking what I run for luggage.

The Hyperrider round pipe rack for the Interceptor is listed around ₹2,149 and claims up to 20 kg, which is roughly what Hyperrider's own product page says here: https://hyperrider.in/product/royal-enfield-interceptor-650-top-rack/. Fits clean without touching the subframe, and keeps the retro lines mostly intact.

The part people skip is the number plate and tail light. Owners sometimes bolt the rack low enough that a dangling bungee or a duffel edge creeps over the plate. Square Insurance has a decent explainer on this, carriers are fine but if anything obscures the rear plate or lights you need a proper supplementary plate holder, lit and visible: https://www.squareinsurance.in/blog/motor-insurance-news/rto-rules-for-luggage-carriers.

I'd rather carry less and keep the plate clean than argue with a constable at a ghat checkpost. What are you running, soft panniers or a top box?
