Long weekend plan taking shape in my head: Uthandi down ECR to Pondicherry, with an early halt near Mahabalipuram before the tour buses wake up. January suits me best, once the monsoon has stopped puddling the Kalpakkam side.
Useful bit from the ECR page I was reading: the tolled beachway stretch from Uthandi is capped at 80kmph, and the Chennai to Mamallapuram portion is still partly being widened. So I budget time, not speed. No permits needed for our own cars, just a loaded FASTag.
Punch iCNG prep I would not skip. Hydro test date on the cylinder sticker. Tyre pressures set thinking about the kit weight. A full CNG fill inside the city rather than hoping for a pump down the coast. And since our spare sits under the boot floor, pack that 210 litre boot so you can still lift it out on the roadside.
