Orange alert on a Ghats weekend: do you shift the plan or just ride short?

The club newsroom has a piece on what IMD's yellow, orange and red alerts actually mean for a Ghats road trip, here, and it sent me down a rabbit hole.
I had been reading orange as "ride a bit slower". The official wording is closer to be prepared, with road closures and power cuts on the cards, while red is take action and carries real risk to life (explainer).
So my planning has changed. On the Kaza Brown with the soft panniers I now look up the district warning the evening before and keep one spare day in any long plan, the same discipline I use with BRO notices before Spiti.
What I cannot settle is the orange day itself. Do you push the whole weekend back, or start at first light and sit out the afternoon in a chai shop? Konkan and Malnad regulars, tell me how you call it.
