Chambal ravines in December: Gwalior to Morena, gharials on the sandbanks, and a fuel plan

With the north shut for the season, I keep looking at a Chambal plan instead. The club's own weather piece on snow over Kullu, Kinnaur and Spiti from 29 October more or less settles the argument for me.
The run I'd do is Gwalior out on Tansen Road, NH3 and then SH23 to Morena, with the Deori interpretation centre sitting about 15 km further on. Outlook Traveller's sanctuary page puts the season at October to March, which is exactly when the ravines are pleasant and the gharials are out on the sand. Morning boat slot, no forest permit drama.
On the Fortuner I'd want full tyre pressures checked cold, the spare actually inflated, and brakes looked at before leaving, because ravine link roads are broken and dusty and you brake far more than you expect. Fill up in Gwalior and don't gamble on village pumps.
Anyone here driven the Morena side recently?
