I sat down and properly read our club piece on whether bull bars and crash guards are legal here, and it is a lot clearer than the chatter at accessory shops: Are bull bars and crash guards legal in India.
The gist is that MoRTH's December 2017 circular asked every state and UT to act on crash guard and bull bar fitment, treating it as a Section 52 contravention. Madras High Court upheld that in 2021 and said the so called important persons are not exempted either. Delhi High Court in 2023 told agencies to enforce it rigorously, flagging that these bars can stop airbags doing their job.
What I do not know is how this plays out on the ground, state by state. Have any of you been stopped for it, or had a workshop quietly refuse to refit your guard? Year, variant and kilometres please, and tell me what your dealer said word for word.
