The bull bar question on the Fortuner, and why mine still has the stock bumper

Every second Fortuner at a Gujarat highway dhaba seems to be wearing a chrome bull bar, and I get the appeal. Tall nose, cattle on the road after dark, Rann tracks where a stray stone can cost you a bumper. I wanted one too when I bought mine.
Then I read Autocar's piece on the ban, and it put me off properly. The fitment falls foul of Section 52 of the Motor Vehicles Act, and the bigger worry for me was the bit about these things concentrating impact at two points and interfering with airbag timing. Here is the report.
So the Platinum White stays stock in front. I would rather spend that money on good all terrain rubber and a proper underbody check before a desert run.
Curious how the rest of you have handled it. Anyone running a soft nudge setup, or did your insurer or an RTO man ever raise it at renewal time?
