Weekend ride to Amboli ghat from Mumbai, worth it on a Classic 350?

Thinking of a two day weekend run from Mumbai down to Amboli ghat now that monsoon is done. Route in my head is NH66 till Sawantwadi then up the ghat. Saw an old Team-BHP thread saying the ghat stretch itself was narrow with broken edges and no signage, don't know if that's still true post season. Anyone from the club actually ridden this on a Classic lately, how's the surface now and is early morning better to avoid the ghat traffic. Also what should I get checked before a run this long, chain slack, tyre pressure, anything specific to this bike.
