Planning a Bengaluru to Ooty run on the Classic, via Mysore and Bandipur. Saw on ootymade.com that bikes get stopped on the Bandipur stretch earlier than cars, from 6pm, so need to time the ghat crossing right. Anyone done this on a 350, how's the road surface through the forest, any patches, and is November better than peak season for queues at the gate. Also what should I get checked before a ghat run, brakes or chain slack?

Ananya, not a 350 guy so can't comment on the forest patches, but that 6pm cutoff thing is something to double check at the gate itself, these timings change without notice sometimes. On an EV I obsess over charger spacing more than chain slack, so curious what your fallback plan is if you miss the gate window and have to wait.

Ananya, before any ghat run chain slack and brake pads both matter, but on a loaded touring bike I'd check tyre pressure too since the forest stretch has those broken patches locals keep posting about. For the 6pm cutoff, Prakash's point stands, carry buffer time. If you miss the gate, is Gudalur the usual fallback halt?
