Brake fluid is a calendar job, not a kilometre job: the line most of us miss

My Baleno does mostly short city hops, so the odometer crawls while the calendar sprints. That is exactly where I keep tripping myself up, because the schedule puts brake fluid at 40,000 km or 24 months, whichever lands first. A lot of us in Bengaluru will hit the 24 months long before the kilometres, and nobody at the counter volunteers that.

I was reading through the Baleno schedule breakdown on mycarhelpline and the 40k service there works out to roughly Rs 6,260, covering oil, filters, brake and clutch fluid, alignment and labour. Their useful tip: if the estimate crosses Rs 8,000, ask what got added beyond the book.

Post monsoon I also just pull the air filter out and look. Same source says clean every 5,000 km, sooner in dust, and our outer ring road qualifies as dust.

Anyone here tracking fluid by date rather than by odometer?
