Alignment every 10,000 km or just when the Baleno starts pulling?

The tyre shop near my usual garage swears by alignment every 10,000 km or six months for Bengaluru cars, whichever comes first. That's roughly a third tighter than the usual 15,000 to 20,000 km interval you'd follow on better roads, and the reasoning is straightforward: deep potholes, speed breaker edges and curb mounting in traffic knock the geometry around well before the mileage clock says so. There's a good breakdown of this here, including garage versus dealership pricing.
I'll admit my own Baleno runs more on feel than on a calendar reminder. If the steering starts drifting or the front tyres look uneven on one edge, I get it checked, mileage be damned.
So tell me honestly, do you book alignment on a fixed interval, or only when you notice the car pulling or a tyre wearing odd on one side? And has anyone actually seen alignment drift inside 10,000 km on a bad commute?
