My Baleno's low beams are honest but not generous, and on the unlit bits of service road at night I have thought more than once about dropping in one of those plug and play LED kits that every accessory shop pushes.
What stops me is the housing. Reading up on it, a reflector bowl designed around a glowing filament just scatters an LED chip's light upward, so the other driver gets the glare and you do not actually get more road. Performance halogens within stock wattage stay legal. A properly aimed, E marked projector retrofit is the real fix, at real money.
Worth knowing too that the city police Dazzling Light drive crossed ten thousand cases in its first five days in January, with fittings coming off on the spot.
So for now I am sticking to clean glass and one well aimed fog lamp. Has anyone here done a calibrated projector retrofit in Bengaluru and had it hold up through the rains?
