The 20,000 km valve check on the 390, and the coolant job hiding behind it

Mine is creeping up on the odometer range where the big one lands, so I went back through the schedule properly instead of trusting memory.
On the new 390 the valve clearance check sits at 20,000 km, and the published schedule lists coolant as a time job rather than a distance one, every four years. That second bit is what catches people like me. If you ride mostly city plus the odd Tamhini loop, you can hit four years long before the kilometres, and nobody at the counter reminds you because the sticker only tracks distance.
I'm planning to get the valves looked at properly rather than bundled into a quick service slot, especially after a Kari day where the motor spends real time pinned. Our heat here does not forgive a tired cooling system either.
If you've had the 20k done, did your dealer actually shim anything or was it all in spec?
