November is my favourite window for this one. Out of Mumbai early on the Goa highway, turn inland at Mangaon, then climb Tamhini into Mulshi with the backwaters on your right and coffee somewhere near Paud before the ride home.
Worth knowing what you are riding into. Pune Pulse reported the ghat reopened after the July landslide damage for two-wheelers, cars and ST buses only, with a 20 kmph cap through the section while widening work continues (the report is here). No heavy traffic is a gift. Loose edges and fresh patches are not, so I treat it as a sightseeing crawl, not a corner hunt.
On my Electronic Orange I clean and lube the chain the night before, check tyre pressures cold, and look at pad thickness since the descent to Mangaon is all engine braking and trail braking.
