KTM says 10,000 km between oil changes on the new 390. I keep cutting mine shorter

Something I keep going back and forth on with my Electronic Orange.

I was reading up on the new motor's schedule and the interval is now 10,000 km or a year, which is a big jump from the 7,500 km the older 390 ran on, with valve clearances only checked at 20,000 km (maintenance schedule here). On paper that is lovely. Fewer visits, more riding.

But my bike spends half its life crawling in Mumbai traffic with the fan screaming, and the other half doing twenty minute sessions at a track day. That oil is not having an easy 10,000 km.

So I drain mine earlier than the book says and just eat the cost. Curious whether that is caution or paranoia.

Are you running the full 10,000, or shortening it for heat and track use? And has your dealer ever pushed back when you asked for an early oil change?
